What is Irregular Periods?
Irregular periods or irregular menstrual cycle occur at a certain point of every woman’s life. This can be caused by internal and external factors that affect the normal pattern of the menstrual cycle of a woman. If the periods are irregular for over several months it can be an indicator of an underlying health condition that requires medical attention. This includes menstruation that changes from the normal 28 days cycle characterised by early menstruation, late menstruation and chaotic menstruation.

Sudden change of diet can result in irregular periods. Diet determines the amount of calories supplied into the body organs hence influencing their functions. The organs charged with the responsibility of producing hormones are highly influenced by the diet as the hormones produced either slow down or quickens the menstrual cycle. This leads to frequent or delayed periods leading to irregularity.
Birth control methods
Birth control methods are used by women to regulate conception. These methods can be in the form of intra-uterine devices, oral pills, implants and injections among others. These birth control methods works by altering the hormonal supply in the body in order to prevent ovulation or conception. They may lead to irregular periods characterised by missed periods, frequent periods within a short span of time such as every two weeks, heavy bleeding or mid-cycle bleeding.

Irregular periods can occur as a result of sudden vigorous exercises. It is advisable to start exercises gradually to allow the body to adjust to changes slowly. This can lead to delayed or irregular periods.
